Dermatoglyphics + Multiple Intelligence Test

Unlock Your Potential

What your fingerprints already know about you

Dermatoglyphics Multiple Intelligence Test

Unlock the intelligence already written in your fingertips.

Potentia reads the ridge patterns formed on your fingertips before birth to map how you — or your child — naturally think, learn and grow, then turns that map into a plan you can actually use.

Also offered in person through Ideal Play Abacus UAE centers.

Every fingerprint pattern is unique — and permanent from roughly week 21 of gestation onward.

The Science

Your fingerprints and your brain develop from the same tissue.

An introduction to dermatoglyphics, and the eight intelligences Potentia maps against it.

Between roughly weeks 7 and 21 of fetal development, the ridges on your fingertips and the neural pathways of your cerebral cortex form together, from the same layer of embryonic tissue, at the same time. Dermatoglyphics is the study of those ridge patterns — their type, count and distribution across all ten fingers.

Potentia's assessment codifies each of your ten fingerprints against 21 recognized ridge-pattern types, then cross-references that codification against Dr. Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences to build a picture of how your brain is naturally wired to take in, process and express information.

Unlike an exam or a questionnaire, the pattern doesn't change with mood, coaching or effort — it was set before you were born, and it stays constant for life. That's what makes it a baseline rather than a snapshot.

Beyond the 8 intelligences

Learning Style

Auditory · Visual · Kinesthetic

Thinking Style

Motive · Reflective

Whether you tend to act first and adjust as you go, or think it through before you move — a read on decision-making style.

How It Works

From ten fingertips to a plan, in four steps.

01

Fingerprint capture

A quick, painless scan of all ten fingerprints using a certified optical scanner — a few minutes, no ink, no discomfort.

02

Pattern analysis

Each print is codified against 21 known ridge-pattern types and cross-mapped to the eight intelligences.

03

Personalized report

A detailed report covering intelligence distribution, brain-hemisphere dominance, learning style and personality traits.

04

One-on-one consultation

A certified analyst walks you through the findings in person and turns them into concrete next steps.

Why Potentia

What you actually walk away with.

01

A baseline, not a guess

Set before birth and unchanging, so the read isn't skewed by a bad day or exam nerves.

02

Fewer trial-and-error years

Point subject, activity and career choices toward strengths you already have.

03

A shared language at home

Give parents and children a concrete way to talk about how the child learns best.

04

Certified analysts

Every report is explained in person, not just emailed as a PDF and left to interpret alone.

05

One test, lifetime insight

Fingerprints don't change — take it once and refer back to it at every stage.

06

Built for local schools

Guidance calibrated to UAE and international-curriculum subject-stream options.

FAQ

Good questions to ask before you book.

What exactly is Dermatoglyphics + MIT?+

Dermatoglyphics + MIT (Multiple Intelligence Test) studies the ridge patterns on your fingertips — formed alongside the brain during fetal development — and cross-references them against the eight intelligences described in Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences, to build a picture of your natural learning style and strengths.

Is the fingerprint scan safe and painless?+

Yes. We use an optical scanner, the same technology used for standard biometric fingerprint capture — no ink, no needles, no discomfort. The scan itself takes only a few minutes.

What happens to my fingerprints after the report is generated?+

They're used only to generate your report. In line with legal requirements, the fingerprint data is erased as soon as your report has been generated — nothing is retained afterward.

What's the right age to take the test?+

Fingerprints are fully formed by roughly week 21 of gestation, so the test is accurate from birth onward. In practice, most clients come in from age 3, once a child's fingertips are large enough to scan cleanly and the insights become practically useful for parenting and schooling decisions.

How long until I receive my report?+

Typically within 3–5 business days of your scan, followed by a scheduled one-on-one consultation to walk through the findings in detail.

Does the result change if I retake the test later?+

No. Ridge patterns are fixed before birth and don't change over your lifetime, so the underlying analysis stays the same. What can change is how you apply it — which is exactly what the consultation is for.

What happens in the consultation?+

A certified analyst walks you through your full report section by section, answers questions, and translates the findings into practical next steps — subject choices, study habits, personality traits, activities or career direction, depending on your program.

Research

The research our approach draws on.

Dermatoglyphics — the study of skin ridge patterns — is a real, decades-old field used in genetics and medicine. Below are real, published sources on the embryology behind it, on Multiple Intelligence theory, and on Dermatoglyphics + MIT specifically. Every title links to the original source.

Embryology & Genetics

1978

Prenatal Selection and Dermatoglyphic Patterns

Babler, W.J. · American Journal of Physical Anthropology, 48(1)

Foundational research on how fingerprint ridge patterns form during fetal development, and what influences their final shape.

1991

Embryologic Development of Epidermal Ridges and Their Configurations

Babler, W.J. · Birth Defects Original Article Series

Documents the developmental window — roughly weeks 7 to 21 of gestation — during which fingertip ridges form alongside the developing central nervous system.

2014

Dermatoglyphics: In Health and Disease — A Review

Bhat, G.M., Mukhdoomi, M.A., Shah, B.A. & Ittoo, M.S. · International Journal of Research in Medical Sciences, 2(1), 31–37

A medical review of how dermatoglyphic patterns are used in genetics and diagnostics, and why they stay fixed for life once formed.

Multiple Intelligence Theory

1983

Frames of Mind: The Theory of Multiple Intelligences

Abhimanyu, M.P., Bottiger, W. & Singh, G.D. · International Journal of Applied Research, 2(3), 802–806

Surveyed Dermatoglyphics + MIT clients and found reported satisfaction with the perceived benefits of their results.

2025

DMIT as a Psychometric Tool: Measuring Aptitude and Correlation with Interest

Vettonthra, R.S. · IJFMR — International Journal For Multidisciplinary Research, 7(4)

A recent academic look at Dermatoglyphics + MIT's use as a psychometric tool alongside traditional aptitude and interest assessments.

Dermatoglyphics-based assessment is a growing, applied field rather than a substitute for medical or clinical diagnosis. Potentia presents each report as one input for learning and career decisions, best used alongside your own judgment, a child's teachers, and — where relevant — other professional advice.
